Innovative Technology for K12
IT4K12 2015 IS OVER

Innovative Technology for K-12 Post Conference Information

Our newly combined Innovative Technology for K-12 in November, 2015 is now over. We’re thrilled so many of you could join us and expect an even greater turn out next year as we make this our new annual event. This event brought together both educators and IT personnel for the purposes of bridging that gap and starting more collaborative discussions. Our evaluations show that many of you (both attendees and sponsors) found this new format to work well and are looking forward to the next event. We’ll be sure to send out a “Save the Date” notice once we’ve confirmed a date and location. We also enjoyed some highly ranked sessions like “MakerEd: Makerspace in the Learning Commons and Why It’s Working!” and “Transitioning to a Centralized Hardware Technology Program: The Victoria Experience” just to name a couple. Some more of the highlights included:

  • Benefits of Blended Conference
  • Plenary Celebrating Student Work
  • Fun & interactive activity, peer group interaction and side discussions
  • Relaxed Social with delicious garlic prawns, chocolate fondue and donut bar

We hoped this combined conference would help to create new connections through different departments and from your comments, it seems we’re on the right track. It was perfectly stated by one 20151103_080614attendee who said “My greatest take-away was realizing we can bridge the gap between IT & Educators. Communication, collaboration & finding more time in our professions day-to-day will help realize a better unison between these two departments.” We couldn’t agree more!

So Thank You to all of our registrants, including our presenters and sponsors. It was great to see so many new faces as well as old, and we hope to see those that we missed at our next event. Your comments and feedback are well taken and as we go forward planning we will keep them in consideration. As usual, your involvement, energy, tweeting and camaraderie are much appreciated!

Through the creation of the IT4K12 Steering Committee, ERAC has had the privilege of working with some key leaders in education and IT. These committee members have been instrumental in providing direction in the development of this newly combined event. We’d like to acknowledge their contribution and thank:

  • Elisa Carlson
  • Richard Eskandar
  • Brian Kuhn
  • Gordon Powell
  • Janine Roy

Thank you again to the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel for superior service and delectable food as always.

Take a moment to enjoy all of our post conference material here and thanks for making it out!
